Recently the interest to endgame has considerably increased. Many chess play­
ers who did not pay any special attention to it before, have stated to study guides
on endings strenuously. Now games are not adjouned, and all decisions should be
made at the board. Besides the populariy of active chess grows where the nowl­
edge of ypical positions and game methods in the endgame is especially impotant.
To len playing endgme well, it is necessay:
-To now as many typical ways, positions and methods of their playing as pos­
sible. With the skill growth the quantiy of exact positions which should be imly
remembered should increse.
-To lean to understand the inal stage of a game, to ind the corect plans in it.
For this purpose it is necessary to sudy endgame classics and to solve chess prob­
lems constantly, irst of all those that are as close to a practical game as possible, as
well as to analyze own endings careully.
The irst volume consists of7 chapters devoted to pawn and minor-pieces' end­
ings. The chapters are divided into themes, each of them has exmples for inde­
pendent solving. All answers can be found at he end of the book. The author hopes
that this book will help readers to lean more about the endings, to ejoy them and
to lean playing them well.
