Intro:
------

We first began the project as of August 5, 1996. The application so far
is being written in Turbo Pascal 7.0 with inline Assembler. The test PC
is a home-built AMD 486DX4-100 with 8MB RAM and an 850MB HD running on
Windows '95. The full fledged emulator we're hoping to reach will support
full stereo sound for common sound cards, (maybe) joystick support, and the
ability to run up to and including 32Mbit cartridges successfully.
However, when finished, we intend to release a shareware version of SNES
Professional that is uncrippled in any way with the exception of loading
carts greater than 16Mbits in size.

Version History:
----------------

 August 21, 1996:
 ----------------

A quick update for v0.02b, a few things added and fixed here and there.

 August 20, 1996:
 ----------------

v0.02b - In addition to all files included with v0.01, this version has
certain bugs fixed, can successfully recognize more SNES roms than
the original (approx 90-95% of valid ones), and a new mouse and menu
system are partially implemented. Still only a preview version and cannot
play anything, but more sample images are included.

 August 13, 1996:
 ----------------

v0.01b - The first release, a command-line version of SNES Professional,
very limited but can load most rom images into memory and display PCX
  preview images.

Usage Instructions:
-------------------

 Command line:
 -------------

To view command line parameters in SNES Professional, simply type:
SNESPROF /H at the command prompt. /HELP and /? will also work.

Command line syntax (case DOES NOT MATTER but EXTENSIONS DO):

  SNESPROF [X:\PATHNAME\CARTNAME.EXT] [X:\PATHNAME\PCXNAME.EXT]

  Where:

  X: is the specified drive
PATHNAME is the specified path to the file
CARTNAME.EXT is the full name and extension of an SNES ROM image
PCXNAME.EXT is the full name and extension of a .PCX preview file

A cartridge and/or PCX file are fully optional and do not need to be
entered on the command line. You can specify one or the other, or both.
If both files are specified, they must be specified IN THE ORDER SHOWN.
If no files are specified, the menu system will still boot but you will
be unable to switch to the game preview screen.

Example - to load the Super Mario World ROM Image in Super Magicom format
(if you own it) and to view the Super Mario World preview PCX file
(provided in the archive) from the command line:

  SNESPROF C:\SNESGAME\MARIO.SMC C:\SNESPROF\MARIO.PCX

NOTE: The file type of the ROM image does not matter; SNES
Professional will attempt to auto-detect whether or not the file is
a valid image regardless of any headers which may preceed it (eg. Super
Magicom, Super Wildcard, Pro Fighter, etc). Also, be sure NOT to rename
the main SNESPROF.EXE file - doing so may cause problems.

 Menu selection:
 ---------------

   Mouse:
   ------

Left-clicking on any button or tab will select it.

Left-clicking on the OK or Cancel buttons while in the menu selector
will flip you into the game preview screen, and while in the game
preview screen right-clicking will flip you back.

Left-clicking on the Quit button in the menu selector will exit SNES
    Professional.

   Keyboard:
   ---------

Pressing the Enter key is equivalent to left-clicking on the OK button.

Pressing the Esc key is equivalent to left-clicking on the Cancel
button while in the menu selector, and equivalent to right-clicking
while in the game preview screen.

    Typing Alt-F, Alt-S, Alt-I, Alt-C, and Alt-A will select the File,
Settings, Info, Controls, and About tabs respectively.

Pressing Alt-Q is equivalent to left-clicking on the Quit button and
    will exit SNES Professional.

 Current emulator capabilities:
 ------------------------------

  * If a valid cartridge is found, it will load the entire ROM data into
XMS and display the appropriate cartridge information.

  * If a valid PCX file is found, it will load it into memory and display
the appropriate size info. (Included with SNES Professional are
several snapshots of common SNES games for your viewing pleasure.
This is the key in that it can show how the emulator will appear
    on completion.)

  * After the above has been checked, the application will automatically
jump into the menu system. Currently it is limited - none of the menus
have any purpose yet, but are intended to give you an idea of what it
will look like when the program is finished. Only the buttons and
    tabs are active.
