Part geometry transfer within interoperability will have better success rate if the input geometry is valid. Occasionally, part geometry within application model or part files can include geometric and topological anomalies. These include self-intersecting surfaces and self-intersecting face loops. The interoperability data transfer mechanism makes every attempt to repair and eliminate these problems, however, models or part files may still be created in the receiving application that contain these anomalies. Although the receiving applications geometry and topology checking functions will report these anomalies, the models are more than likely still usable for downstream applications. I-DEAS to Unigraphics I-DEAS models that include non-manifold topology will not be transferred into Unigraphics part files. The user will be informed via a diagnostic message of this situation. It may be possible, for the I-DEAS user, to suppress a feature in the history tree, to remove the non-manifold condition before transfer. Assemblies exported with interoperability will include suppressed and hidden entities. Suppressing or hiding entities is not considered a change to the product structure. Unigraphics to I-DEAS There are geometric and topological configurations within Unigraphics part geometry that cannot be represented within I-DEAS model files. In these situations, the model is still transferred, but the problematic entity(s) are removed from the model. These entities are typically faces and will result in solid bodies being imported into I-DEAS as sheet bodies. The I-DEAS user may resolve this issue by filling in the face with a surface-by-boundary operation, before continuing with any downstream work. Parts and assemblies imported with interoperability will be stored in a bin in the model file. The bin will be named as UG_Models_1234. The first two letters will be UG, SE, or XT to indicate the type of file imported. The last four digits will be a random number to create a unique bin name. The import of Parasolid XT assembly files into I-DEAS is not supported. If you attempt to open a Parasolid file containing an assembly, you will get an error that says the file format is invalid. The import of parts using Parasolid files is supported and documented, not assemblies. FLEXlm VERSION WITH UGS INSTALLATION Most recent version of FLEXlm binary is recommended when more than one products are using FLEXlm on the same machine. If you have newer version of lmgrd.exe from UGS installation on the same machine, you can place UGS lmgrd.exe into the I-DEAS sec directory. The license server has to be restarted after the change.
