Wonderful Weddings

I have been planning my wedding for the last 18
months, and have thoroughly enjoyed learning about
all the different bits of stationery that will be required
to help make my big day just perfect. I’m a bit of
a ‘pink’ fanatic, so these double pink papers are
exactly what I was looking for.
Putting this article together has helped me focus
on the look I want for my stationery and I can’t wait
to get started on the real thing. Wish me luck for
November when I tie the knot!
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Creative Paper SR242P Pink/Dark Pink.
White Paper, White Card and Silver Card.
Favour Bags: FAV01-15 Magenta.
Pillow Pack: PIL01U-30 White.
Square Box: BOX02 White.
Foiled Creative Die-Cut Banners:
CDS065G Wedding Invitation, CDS045G Evening
Invitation, CDS095G Order of Service.
4mm Bling Bling Gems: GEM70.
Ribbon: ROLL10-14 Azalea.
Peel-Off Stickers: XL573U-02 Order of Service,
XL575U-02 Menu and XL572U-02 Thank You.
Hook & Loop Dots: ADH36 White.
Tracing Paper and Pencil.
Craft Knife and Cutting Mat.
Double Sided Tape and Mini Fixers.
P.V.A. Craft Adhesive.
Cards/Wallets Shown: WS26U-30, SF08U-30,
GF06U-30, SF01U-30, SF04U-30, PLC11U-30.
Wallet Inserts: WS36U-30, WS46U-30.
Envelopes: ENV46 White for RSVP, and Outer
Envelopes for all Except the Menu & Place Cards.
Once you have chosen a colour scheme to match
your wedding colours, decide on whether you want
white or cream cards to go with it. The pretty vine
papers I have chosen to use come in a range of
popular colours and these colour options are shown
on the last page of this article.
Fold the wallet and use double sided tape along
the pocket flaps to make the pocket.
Wallet Front (WS26U): Cut the creative paper to
80mm x 150mm and stick in place on the flap with a
straight edge along the fold and overlapping all the
open edges. Turn the card face down and trim the
paper to fit. Cut a strip of pink paper 22mm x 150mm
and stick across the outside of the pocket flap at
12mm up from the inner fold
(not the pocket fold), trim to
fit. Glue the banner across the
centre of the paper strip.
Stick a hook dot onto the
back of the triangular flap,
stick a loop dot onto this (face
to face), peel the backing and
close the flap, the loop dot
will stick to the panel in just
the right place. Press firmly to
ensure it is well stuck before
opening.
Wallet Inside: Cut an 8mm
x 150mm strip of pink creative
paper, add to the pocket at
14mm from the fold line and
trim the sides to fit.
USING WALLET CARDS:
Wallet cards are perfect for wedding invitations,
they look really special and have an internal pocket,
which holds lots of separate pieces of information in
a very nice way. The panel above the pocket displays
the most important information; names, venue, time
etc., and it’s the first thing the recipient will see as
they open the wallet (right).

The pre-cut wallet inserts are very useful, they
come in two sizes and lots of popular colours, and
they are worth using even if you are going to com-
pletely cover them with paper as I have. For each
pocket you will normally use two large and one small
insert, but it depends on how much information you
want to include.
Type the event information for the top panel on
the computer, make sure it is the right size to fit the
insert with a 3 to 4mm border showing all around,
print out onto white paper and trim to size. The lower
large panel can have the gift list, a map to the church
or to the evening celebration or anything else you
want to include.
The smaller RSVP panel needs a space to write in
the person’s name (or you can type these if you have
the complete guest list at this stage) and ‘will/will not
attend’ wording. Again, print on white paper and trim
to leave a 3 to 4mm edge of the small panel showing.
Cover two large and one small pre-cut panel with
pink paper and stick the white printed panels in
place. Open the wallet and stick the main information
panel onto the middle panel of the wallet. Tuck the
larger panel into the pocket, include a small white
envelope with your address on the front (not shown)
and add the RSVP card in front.
150mm long and stick in place with the card folded,
then cut carefully down the centre opening and trim
the outer ends to the folded card edges. Glue the
banner to the right hand front panel only, then add a
hook and loop dot at the left to fasten the card as
before. Stick 3 silver gems to the lower right corner
of the card to finish.
Order of Service (SF01U): Cover the card in pink
creative paper and tie a 1.2 metre length of ribbon
down the front panel in a lovely big bow. This is held
in place with a mini
fixer under the knot
where it doesn’t
show.
Cut a 35mm
square of white
card and add the
wording. Matt onto
pink paper, trim-
ming to leave a
4mm border all
around then onto
silver card leaving
a 5mm border this
time. Type out the
order of service de-
tails and print onto
white paper to fit
like a standard insert for
the card. Print out and
stick in place.
Menu (SF08U): Cut the
pink paper to 88 x 192mm
and stick centrally onto the
card. Cut a piece of white
card to 15 x 30mm and
matt onto pink and silver
card in the same way as
above. Add the words and
stick centrally over the
pink panel leaving 25mm
of paper showing above.
Add three silver gems
to the bottom right corner
of the card. Type out the
menu details and print on-
to white paper as above.
Evening Invitation (GF06U): If you have guests
who will be attending just the evening celebrations,
but not the actual wedding, you will need some of
these. The wording inside will need to show the time
and details of the later celebrations only (right). I’ve
used a gatefold card for this, the inside front panels
can be used for a map and any other information you
want to include.
The front of the card is simply decorated with a
13mm paper strip across the centre. Make the strip

It’s always best to
make the ‘thank you’
cards while you are doing
the rest, as there will be
no time later. These can
be simply to thank your
guests for coming and/or
for the gift.
Thank You (SF04U):
Cut a piece of pink paper
to 65mm x 95mm, stick
onto the front of the card
and trim along the edges
to fit. Stick a strip of
azalea ribbon over the pink paper aligning the top
edges and trim the ends to the card. Stick five evenly
spaced gems across the ribbon.
Cut a piece of white card to 25mm x 40mm, matt
onto pink paper as before, add the wording and stick
centrally onto the white area of the card. Add an
insert in the usual way. You can print a thank you
message onto the insert, but it’s always nicer to get
a hand written thank you, so hand write it if you can.
Favours:
There are
lots of diff-
erent ways of
presenting the
wedding favour
sweets, and I’ve
tried out pillow
packs, bags and boxes covered in the same paper.
Favour bags are a very popular choice as there is
nothing to do other than add the sweets. Don’t use
boiled sweets like I have here, they do look very
pretty, but as they are un-
wrapped they stick together
after a very short time. Some
sugared almonds or smartie
type wedding sweets are a
better choice.
Table Numbers: Make
up simple table numbers to
match the theme, these need
to be quite large so use one of the large wallet inserts
as a base.
Below are a number of different colour options, in
case you’re not as big a fan of pink as I am. As you
can see the flowers do look very pretty too and the
inserts are plain blue card, just to show that you don’t
need to cover them. Enjoy your big day!
TABLE STATIONERY:
Place Settings (PLC11U): These match the simple
style of the menu cards as they will be used together
on the table. Cover the front panel in pink paper and
trim the edges. The size of the paper with the typed
names needs to be carefully thought out before you
begin. Look for your longest guest name and base
the size of the panel on this. If it’s very long, you can
always condense the width of the lettering in your
word processing program before printing so the
smaller names don’t get lost on their panels.
Matt the names onto silver card leaving a border
as before and mount. I’ve used a double layer of fixer
pads behind mine to make them stand out very
nicely from the
background.
