D-BROWSE GENERAL: -------- D-BROWSE.EXE is made possible by Henrik Haftman's DOSLFN (or DOSLFNME) TSR which enables the use of Long File Names (LFN) in plain DOS. A DOS program can then use the INT 21H AX = 71xxH set of LFN interrupt services and display files and subdirectory paths in LFN form. The name D-BROWSE was chosen as short for "Hard disk FAT16/32 file information and subdirectory browser". As the program evolved, gradually some file modification features were added. The program now offers a multiple Tagged files Copy/Move capability, a hex viewer/editor, string scanner, file and folder finders, file and folder delete, file time stamp settings, file attributes setting, and a Help screen. D-BROWSE will run in a DOS Window, and has been tested on Windows 98 SE and Millenium Edition. The program is primarily intended for use in plain DOS. Special boot disks supply a suitable working DOS environment for the program. In addition to the required DOSLFN TSR, the boot disk installs the freeware mouse and RAM disk drivers listed below. The boot disk autoexec.bat copies D-BROWSE.EXE to RAM drive Z: and invokes it. Disk cachers are used to speed up disk filing operations.
